The second trimester runs from week 13 to week 26.
They say this trimester is the most enjoyable one and I can understand why!! Finally some energy!!!
This is the time when you finally can relax as the chances of miscarriage are lower.
You will start to notice a lot of body changes, in my case:
- I started to show, my bump was coming out yay.
- My boobs went from a size B to a size D.
- Nipples get darker and bigger.
Symptom wise I thought my nausea would subside but I still have it on and off.
Whereas with my first born by the second trimester I had no nausea at all.
The symptoms I have experienced during the second trimester are:
- Increased urination.
- Nausea but less and always no vomiting
- Increased energy levels I was able to start exercising regularly again.
- Heartburn
- Spotting ( if you have this please get it checked out)
- Quite strong headaches at around 18 weeks.
- Sensitive mood , I can cry very easily if too happy or a little bit sad.
- Weight gain
- Occasional nose bleeds
The best part is that from week 16 although I have an anterior placenta I can actually feel my baby moving which is just so sweet and adorable.
Food wise I am pretty taken back by this pregnancy, with my previous pregnancy I had uncontrollable hunger with this one I am not as hungry. I have been eating slightly more than I usually would.
In the first trimester I was struggling with drinking still water, the past few weeks I have finally felt thirsty and I am finally drinking water without that nauseous feeling.
The foods I am craving in the second trimester:
- Salty foods especially pizza or nachos.
- Fruits such as grapes, pears, apples, oranges, mangos you name it fruits are my go to.
- Fruit smoothies
- Anything with a salty taste.
- The sweet one I love is a pretzel once a week.
I am really not enjoying sweets, the sweeter they are the more nauseous they make me feel, which is hilarious because with my first pregnancy I was craving all sorts of sweets.
I can really say that my food preferences have completely changed salty and sour seem to be my go to foods.
I totally agree that I am energetic this trimester. In terms of supplements I have only been taking Folic acid and Vitamin D.
My bump evolution week 13 – week 26 second trimester
I wanted to show you how my bump has been growing from week 13 to week 26 of this second trimester.
It’s been a whirlwind of emotions and body changes. A lot of regular midwife and consultant appointments.
The time has been flying. Do you feel the same?
