Law and behold, Huda Beauty has released another product which has taken over the Internet by storm, the Legit Lashes Mascara.
Huda Beauty started her brand selling eyelashes and to think that after years of product development she came up with her first ever mascara, is absolutely mind blowing.
The Legit Lashes Mascara was sold out and now its finally back in stock.
But the real question is, will the Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Mascara give me enough confidence to walk around without falsies ?
The Legit Lashes Mascara design
The Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Mascara comes in a similar design tube as the Huda Beauty life liner.
It’s similar in terms of casing and dual brush ended Mascara design.
A black sleek dual ended Mascara tube, with the Instagram worthy Huda Beauty logo on it.
When you hold the Mascara in your hand it has a 3D diamond geometrical shape and not your ordinary Mascara tube shape.
In terms of use, it makes it easy to pop on my dressing table instead of rolling off it.
It’s has a very innovative Mascara design, which I quite enjoy.
The packaging is also sleek and simple to reflect the mascara.
The Legit Lashes Mascara wand applicators
The Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Mascara has the feature of being dual ended.
Each end of the Mascara contains a different wand design and a different Mascara formula too.
Mascara Volume end
The Mascara wand on this side is one which has a curved cone shape and bristles which are dual ended at each opening.
This type of mascara wand allows that volumizing lash coating that comes with the illusion of more voluminous lashes.
The applicator is flexible and is very easy to use.
Mascara Length and Curl end
The wand of this end of the Mascara is a half moon curved wand with shorted bristles.
The best part of this type of mascara wand is that it is able to get even the smallest lashes.
The curvature ensures that the lashes are pulled up for that much desired curl that most of us with straight lashes struggle with.
This makes the Huda Beauty Legit Lashes mascara overall, extremely versatile and able to adapt to different types of lashes.
If I don’t have to wear any eyelashes, that would be amazing.
The Huda Beauty Mascara formula
The actual mascara formula is an ultra black pigmented one that promises a clump free result. Its a matte black pigment.
I was surprised that this mascara formula is not waterproof.
Remember that the success of a mascara relies on the actual mascara formula and the wand combined.
Volumizing mascara end
This side of the Huda Beauty mascara is designed so that you can pump volume into your lashes. The Mascara formula incorporates volumizing fibres which add texture to your lashes and increase their volume.
The formula is one that looks thick at first glance but once applied it glides effortlessly on your lashes adding that oumph of volume to your lashes.
Length and curl mascara end
This side of the Huda Beauty mascara has been developed so that the formula has patented 5mm fibres which allow lashes to be lengthened with ease.
Luckily the fibres of both ends of the mascara, do not get into your eyes unlike other brands and do not cause irritation! This is such an important issue to consider with fibre containing mascaras.
How to use the Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Mascara
Huda Beauty recommends:
- Using an eyelash curler before applying your mascara.
- Using first the volumizing end.
- And using after the length and curl end.
- She advises using both sides of the mascara to get the best result, rather than using either the volumizing side or the length and curl separately.
It can’t get any easier than this. However, to make your life easier I have tested out different application methods to see what the benefits are of using it in different ways.
My lash type is short and straight. I’ve always relied on eyelashes extensions and false lashes so I had huge hopes when I got my Legit Lashes Mascara.
There are so days that I just want to look natural and just wear a dab of mascara instead of going full glam.
Use on short, straight type lashes
When you use the Volumizing end only
You get a whole load of volume but some length too. Be careful with how many coats you apply as with all mascaras, the more you apply the chances are they will develop into spidery/ clumpy lashes.
When using the Length and Curl end
I like how you get a curve and that’s not common with straight lashes so in terms of curvature it’s actually successful.
In terms of length it also did great, I really like how thin the product spreads on the lashes.
However, on its own if your lashes are straight with gravity the may well experience some lowering and lessening of the curvature.
When using both the Volumizing, length and curl mascara end
I found that the best application method is to use both sides combined.
The main reason is that somehow the two mascara formulas seem to work extremely well together and give out the best results together.
Did it matter if you use the Volumizing side first or the Length and curl first?
I feel that the order did matter depending on which results you want to achieve.
If you use the volume side first you get more voluminous and dramatic lashes, but if you use the curl and length first with a dab of the volume mascara side, I like that the lashes look longer and more defined, not as heavy.
So it greatly depends on what you lash look you want to achieve.
If you want a very natural lash but longer opt for only the length and curl.
Creating Extreme length and volume on lashes with Legit Lashes
If you want to create extreme length and I mean triple the length and triple the volume, you can do so by using the volume side first and then the curl/length side till you achieve the dramatic look you were going for.
I did this on my short to medium straight lashes and they looked insane, the only issue with adding length that is not there to begin with is that it will look spidery but if you don’t mind you get mind blowing lashes.
Use on extremely short type lashes
I tested this mascara on extremely short lashes to give you and indication of what kinds of results to expect.
I felt that on my mom’s extremely short lashes the difference was huge. I would say the lashes looked double the length and clearly more curved.
Use on short to medium lashes
On my short to medium lashes, I particularly love that the Legit Lashes Mascara manages to make them more curled and definitely longer as you can tell from my pictures below.
Use on medium to long lashes
It is with no surprise that people with medium to long length lashes got the most dramatic transformations as they already have the length to begin with.
As you’ve seen already widely on Instagram.

There is a trick that I noticed all influencers are using prior to using this mascara.
Longer lashes hack 1

Is this mascara easy to remove?

It’s important to remove mascara at the end of the day as it dries out lashes and if you don’t they can break off.
Is the mascara waterproof and smudge proof?
Unfortunately, the Huda Beauty mascara is not waterproof so it can smudge.
The only advantage to this mascara not being waterproof is that it won’t damage your lashes by drying them out.
So in a sense this mascara is also designed to avoid lash breakage.
The final verdict
If you are looking for a new mascara that looks beautiful on your dressing table, makes your lashes double the length and double the volume but more delicate on your natural lashes the Legit Lashes Mascara may well be for you.
