Law and behold, after being a sensation on Instagram I am finally getting the chance to put the Estrid razor kit through it’s paces.
I’ve seen their razor collection plastered all over the Internet. That design has my head spinning for the get go! But unfortunately design isn’t everything when it comes to razors!
The most important feature of a razor is how well it performs.
From experience I tend to opt for the formula 1 of all razors the Gillette Pro Glide razor. It just glides beautifully on the contours of my body without any extra cuts and irritation.
I am excited to get to grips with the Estrid razor kit and I’m hoping to find a great alternative to my usual blade choice. Also because it’s fairly priced.
What to look for in a razor?
The features I look for in a razor include:
- Design appeal
- Functional design that has the ability to easily glide on the body
- Is it friendly to sensitive skin?
- Does the brand support my values? Vegan? Cruelty free? Environmentally friendly?
- Price range
- Delivery cost
As you can see there are a lot of factors to take into consideration for a successful shave and a smooth finish.
Who are Estrid?
Estrid are an innovative Scandinavian based company which provide vegan and cruelty free razors specifically designed for women.
I don’t know what it is with Scandinavian companies but I am always so impressed with the high quality standards as well as their exceptional product design.
The benefits of using the Estrid razor kit
What’s unique about the Estrid razor??? I was impressed that they actually tackled the “pink tax” issue, whereby some specific female products are taxed higher, by keeping the overall razor pricing down!
They have developed a high quality razor which is made out of steel and comes in a variety of pastel finish colours.
Like that’s not enough the Estrid razors are vegan and cruelty free.
You may ask yourself how is the razor actually cruelty free?? The moisture strip is free of any animal by products and their products are NOT tested on animals.
Their packaging is also 100% recyclable.
Another brilliant benefit to buying these is that they are extremely affordable!! And we all know how expensive shaving can get.
Estrid also gives back to Women for women international support by giving back 1% of all sales to a women’s charity affected by war. To me a brand that gives back to its comminity is a value I do appreciate.

Bear in mind that they provide a subscription option when it comes down to the razor blades, if you don’t want to subscribe and buy it as a once off my best advice is that after you’ve paid you cancel immediately the subscription from your account.
The Estrid Starter kit
The Estrid Starter kit comes in a beautiful environmentally friendly packaging which they also managed to keep beautiful.
The contents
The starter kit contains:
- A Steel handle
- A Wall mount
- Two 5-blade razor heads
The razor shades
The Estrid razors come in 5 different colour variations which include:
- Bloom
- Cloud
- Space
- Peach
- Lemonade
I got mine in the beautiful Bloom soft pink Pastel shade. The finish is matte and as you can see it looks sensational.
The Estrid razor design
The Estrid razor design is so beautiful, the handle is a solid high quality steel handle with a Pastel pink finish.
The blade has a five bladed design which is also infused with aloe vera and shea butter.
The holder is made of the same material as the handle of the razor and the back has a suction cup so you can stick it to your bathroom wall.
The razor sits beautifully in its holder, it comes with the perfect accessory.
How do you order the Estrid razor?
Ordering is simple of you know how their service works, simply:
- Click on Get started on the top bar of their website.
- Choose your favourite Estrid razor colour.
- Click on the bottom tab where it says NEXT
- This will take you to the razor head subscription page where you can choose how often you need a refill of vegan razor blade heads.
- After you click next on the bottom tab, this will take you to other extra products such as the shave cream and the case in Bloom (you can skip this step if you don’t need the extras).
- This will take you to the payment page.
*if you don’t want to subscribe to the razor blade replacement head service, there’s unfortunately no way to skip this other than canceling the subscription after the payment of your Estrid Starter kit. (it won’t charge you for the replacement head so you can easily cancel them)
Estrid replacement razor blade heads subscription service
Estrid offers you to deliver a set of 4 blades on a subscription service which you can easily set up to be delivered straight to your door according to your needs!
They give you the choice of sending your replacement blades:
- Every second month (ideal if you shave twice a week)
- Every third month (ideal if you shave once a week)
- Every fourth month (ideal if you shave occasionally)
You can easily choose not only how frequently you get the vegan blades but also pause or cancel your subscription at any time.
How do you shave with the Estrid razor?
The best way to get the perfect smooth finish when using the Estrid razor kit is:
- Use a gentle Hydrating body Exfoliator on the area you are planning to shave.
- Use a shaving gel to allow for a smooth shave, Estrid offer their own shave cream.
- Make sure you moisturise with a skin calming moisturiser after this, Estrid offer their own body lotion.
*keep away from irritants such as perfumes or deodorants or any perfumed moisturisers.
How to replace your Estrid blade
Replacing the razor cartridge is simple, simply:
- Unpack your new cartridge
- Hold the blade from the outer edges
- Push the handle in the back of the cartridge and slide the button up to allow it to click in.
How to attach your Estrid holder
Attaching the Estrid holder is easy, I placed mine on my bathroom wall by simply:
- Finding a flat surface.
- Pushing the holder into the wall.
- Slide you razor in.
If you have kids make sure you place it out of reach.
How to take care of your Estrid razor
When it comes down to taking care of your razor, make sure you:
- Rinse and dry it after use.
- Place it in the Estrid holder.
- Change the blade after 5-7 uses.
*my razors seem to last way longer than the recommendation.
How much is the Estrid Starter kit?
The Estrid Starter kit retails at only £7.95. Then the 4 replacement razor blade heads retail at £9.95.

My experience using the Vegan Estrit razor kit
Visually my experience using the Estrid razor kit was divine. It is just so beautiful! You can’t fault it all.
When using it I first placed my Estrid holder so it was ready for use after shaving.
I followed my how to use the Estrid razor above to get the best results.
Whatever you do make sure you use some sort of shaving cream as the blades are very sharp, not enough to give you small cuts but enough to make your skin feel sensitive.
If you use a shaving cream you will get the smoothest finish.
It tends to clog up with hair immediately, so make sure that you tap it and remove the hair as you use it.
Overall, I got a smooth finish and I love how well it removes the hair.
I don’t recommend using this on your face only because it is so sharp, but anywhere else on your body will be great.
Is Estrid a monthly subscription?
Estrid is a monthly subscription razor blade service. However, you can easily choose to cancel it even immediately so you are not charged.
You can also purchase Estrid products as a one off from their Products section.
The final verdict
I give the Estrid razor a solid 10 for design and in terms of functionality it did great surprisingly enough.
I never trust the women’s razors they don’t tend to perform as well as men’s ones. This one however, did amazing!!!!!
Not only do I get a smooth finish but it doesn’t give me those tiny cuts women’s razors tend give me!
I can’t believe how affordable it is! I definitely will be subscribing to their replacement blade service as it works out cheaper than Gillette in general.
