Foreo Espada review, say goodbye to your spots

Law and behold, you asked and here it is the Foreo Espada in all it’s glory. It promises to reduce inflammation and acne breakouts.

Yes! An actual skincare tool which helps with spots!! This is music to my ears!

I don’t suffer from acne but I definitely get spots and what’s worse is that they pop up especially when I don’t want them.

I definitely needed to get the Espada by Foreo Sweden to keep those spots at bay.

But let’s look at the science behind it and see if the Espada is truly worth the spend.

What is acne?

Acne is a skin condition which is induced by hair follicles becoming blocked with skin oils and dead skin cells.

Acne comes in different forms which includea whiteheads, blackheads and spots.

Acne can present itself in a mild, moderate or severe form.

There are different ways to keep it at bay which include natural methods, a good skincare routine and in extreme cases medication.

What is the Foreo Espada?

The Espada by Foreo Sweden is an at-home device used to treat of mild to moderate inflammatory acne.

The Espada has the ability to eliminate acne causing bacteria very fast at the touch of a button.

The Foreo Espada is suitable for:

  • All skin tones.

The technology within the acne busting device

This Foreo acne targeted device is FDA cleared and is scientifically proven to be an effective treatment against acne.

The Espada features a blue dual powered laser focused LED light as well as Foreo’s T-sonic pulsation technology.

This combination of technology is able to destroy acne-causing bacteria deep into the skin as well as that on the surface.

If that’s not enough to you, it is also able to reduce blemishes, inflammation and even balacing skin sebum.

This device aims to help give you clearer, healthy, smoother skin.

As part of Foreo’s clinical trails 4 out 5 users reported a decrease in their breakouts as well as clearer skin.

The T-Sonic™ pulsations help stimulate microcirculation, soothe as well as heal the treated areas.

The Espada features

The Espada by Foreo Sweden measures 140 x 36 x 31 mm and weighs 88g.

The head of the device has a triangular face adjusting shape which allows it to be used on all the different surface crevices of the face.

The Espada features:

  • A medical grade anti-bacterial silicone body.
  • A simple start and stop button interface.
  • A treatment surface.
  • A charging port.
  • An indication light.
  • Blue LED light.
  • T-sonic pulsations.
  • Targeting light.
  • Built in timer.

The Blue (LED) light has the ability to kill acne inducing bacteria. It activates as soon as the device is pressed onto the face.

It will flash 3 times to indicate the start of the treatment. The blue light switches off as soon as its taken off the skin.

The T-sonic pulsations increase intensity as the device is pushed onto the skin so that more blue LED light can penetrate deep into the skin layers.

I love how it has a red cross shaped light which helps you direct your treatment directly to the area you need it to go to.

The built in timer will ensure that every 30 seconds the devices pauses its pulsations as well as flash to indicate the end of the treatment.

The Foreo acne reducing device is able to switch off on it’s own if not used after 3 minutes.

How to use the Foreo Espada

Using the Espada is quick and easy, simply:

  1. Remove any make-up by double cleasing. I used the Foreo Luna 3 with the Foreo Micro-Foam Cleanser to get clean skin.
  2. Dry your skin.
  3. Turn on your Espada from the universal power button.
  4. Use the target light to aim where you will press the device.
  5. Once you press the device onto the skin both the blue LED light and T-sonic pulsations will activate.
  6. Hold the device onto the treatment area for 30 seconds.
  7. You can treat the blemish 4 times within one treatment or move to the next area you wish to treat.

How often should I use the Foreo Espada?

This treatment can be used daily, it should be used no more than 3 times a day as you are using blue LED light. Also each spot should not have more than 2 minutes treatment.

My experience using the Foreo Espada

As per usual Foreo really impresses me with their Swedish design and all the attention to detail it shows by providing a travel pouch for the device.

I was surprised when I held the device in my hand as it was so light and so easy to use.

I made sure I double cleansed with the Foreo Luna 3 and Foreo Micro-Foam Cleanser.

I then treated my problem areas with the Espada and found that my skim inflammation was reduced as well as the frequency of my breakouts.

The key to the efficiency of this acne targeted skincare device is the consistance of use.

At first to be honest I was sceptical but through continued use I noticed it actually does make a difference.

Before and after using the Foreo Espada

As you can see my skin and it’s blemishes were gone and the Foreo anti acne device actually works.

If you stop using this pen however, your skin will revert to it’s original oil production pattern and possible breakouts.

The final verdict

Do you want to know if it’s worth the spend? You be the judge!

It definitely reduces the inflammation of the spots, the redness and improves the appearance of blemishes.

I find that if you have a lot of spots it can be time consuming as you have to target each an every spot.

It’s a great tool for my breakouts but I have to be consistent with it. The thing is I only get a few spots a month which makes me likely to reach out for it.

It does work efficiently and the results are clear.

A great alternative to the Foreo Espada would be the Foreo UFO range as you are able to have both the blue LED light and the T-sonic pulsation technology.

With the UFO you can cover more skin whereas with the Espada you target a specific spot.

I would recommend the Foreo UFO range devices as you have more options.

I hope you enjoyed this review but most importantly found it useful.

Although this product was gifted to me, all the opinions above are truthful and my own.
