In my search for the ultimate microcurrent facial toning devices, I decided to focus my research and testing experitise into comparing the Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity.

The Foreo Bear design
The Bear by Foreo Sweden comes in the distinctive Smart Swedish design.
The device is designed to be lightweight and fit the facial curves with the upmost efficacy.
The body of the device is a waterproof silicone, which also gives you a better grip whilst carrying out your microcurrent treatment.
The Foreo microcurrent device exhibits a simple interface where there is a universal power button as well as 5 intensity indicator lights.
This will let you know wether you are pressing down the device correctly and remind you what intensity you are working with.
The universal power button is used for syncing the device to the Foreo app for activation and customising the device settings.

Material
The Foreo Bear is made out of an Ultra-Hygienic silicone whereas the NuFace Trinity is made out of smooth plastic.
The Ultra-Hygienic silicone is 100% waterproofand easily washed with water and soap,this allows the device to remain very clean.
The overall material preference is based on your personal taste.
The Foreo Bear may have a better grip for carrying out the treatment.
The NuFace Trinity has to be wiped clean and never washed under water as it will damage the device and zap you.
Colour
The Bear by Foreo Sweden comes only in one colour variation of fuchsia whereas the NuFace Trinity comes in a classic salon type white colour with a grey base or the limited editions are ever changing in colour.
Again with colour choice, it is up to you to see which device you prefer.
Size
Let’s talk about size, because size is definitely a factor that can affect purchase choice.
The Foreo Bear measures 64x79x39mm whereas the NuFace Trinity measures 133x76x25mm.
The size difference is more than double. The NuFace Trinity is larger and bigger. Then, when you pop it on its charger dock/stand it can appear bigger. It may be suited to someone who likes a salon type looking device.
The Foreo Bear is much smaller in comparison and may be better suited to someone who is on the go or generally prefers a smaller device.
Weight
Weight of the device can also be another great deciding factor.
The NuFace Trinity weighs 181.4g whereas the Foreo Bear weighs in at 90g.
The difference in weight is considerable! The NuFace microcurrent devices comes in at double the weight of the Foreo microcurrent device.
So if you prefer a lighter device the Bear by Foreo Sweden may be better suited to you.
Remember that you are using the device up to 5 times per week.
Microcurrent bead size
The microcurrent spheres are approximately similar in size.
Bear in mind that large microcurrent spheres are suitable for the larger areas but not as much for targeted areas, as it makes it hard to get in that area efficiently.
So both these devices work best on the larger areas but not the targeted areas. The way to get a microcurrent treatment on the targeted areas is either to use the NuFace Trinity ELE attachment or using the Foreo Bear Mini.

The NuFace Trinity lasts 2 weeks based on a daily 20 minute treatment use.

Charging method
The NuFace Trinity comes with a very stylish charging Dock whereas the Foreo Bear comes with a space friendly USB charger.
You will find that the charging Dock is very delicate and you have to be careful your NuFace Trinity doesn’t fall.
The Foreo Bear charger is safe, don’t be alarmed if you insert it and it doesn’t insert all the way. That’s literally how it sits.
Charging time
For a full charge the NuFace Trinity takes 12 hours on the charging Dock whereas the Foreo Bear takes 1.5 hour to fully charge.
This makes the charging Dock feature perfect for the NuFace Trinity as it needs an overnight charge.
Standby time
The Foreo Bear lasts 90 days on standby whereas there is no official standby time measurement available for the NuFace.
The NuFace Trinity standby time was around 10 days.
Both devices have an automatic shut off time, whereby the NuFace Trinity shuts off automatically after 20 minutes of treatment and the Foreo Bear shuts off after the 3 minutes treatment.
Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity strength
The NuFace Trinity exudes 400 micro amps (μA) current, whereas the Foreo Bear has no official release of the microamps used.

Since the Bear is waterproof, the cleaning process is easy. It is important to keep microcurrent devices nice and clean so that they can keep providing you with great results.

- Rinse with warm water.
- Dry with a non-abrasive cloth.

My experience with the NuFace Trinity
When I opened the NuFace Trinity I was pleasantly surprised, the packaging is very thought out.
The device is not as big as I initially thought and the charging craddle is actually more stable than expected.
The NuFace microcurrent facial toning device is absolutely beautiful if you love that classic salon feel.
I charged the device for 12 hours to make sure it was ready for my testing. Ideally the device shut be put on the charging craddle after use.
I found it very easy to operate as it has a simple power on and off button, as well as a + and – buttons to adjust the microcurrent intensity.
The microcurrent intensity runs from level 1 to level 5.
If you are a newbie to microcurrent you may want to experiment and see how your skin reacts.
Start on level 1 and work your way up to level 5.
Nuface recommend using it 5 days a week for the first 60 days and after the 60 day period use it only 2-3 times a week for maintenance.
There are 2 types of treatments associated to the NuFace Trinity:
- Advanced 15-Minute Facial-Lift
- 5-Minute Facial-Lift
I’m not a big fan of a long routine and I tend to opt for the 5 minute microcurrent treatment. I struggle to commit daily so it’s rare that I do the 15 or 20 minutes treatment.
So when you switch on the device you have to wait for it start up for less than 30 seconds, when it’s ready for you to use it, it beeps.
The way to best apply the NuFace Hydrating Leave-on Gel Primer is to apply a thick layer of it on the single area you are going to treat first.
This will ensure you don’t get zapped.
So I work in sections and apply it area by area as a thick layer.
The treatment with the NuFace Trinity is simple as it has a bleep sound effect to let you know when to move on to the next area.
One thing is that this microcurrent treatment needs your patience as you will have to move very slowly onto the areas.
I didn’t feel a tingling sensation when I was doing treatment, I only felt it slightly in the forehead area especially as the NuFace primer started to dry down.
My skin did show a slight lift, slight contour and my skin was left more radiant.
A very easy microcurrent device to use however I do struggle with using it consistently due to it’s long treatment time frame.

Notice how my cheek bone is slightly more voluminous, raised and plump.
My forehead looked more smooth and tight.
My skin looked like it was slightly more radiant.
To me the cheekbone area appears more lifted and plump.
Also from this last before and after side shot the eyebrow looks slightly raised and my nasolabial fold less pronounced.
My experience with the Foreo Bear
When I unwrapped the Bear by Foreo Sweden, I was truly taken back.
That Swedish smart design always surprises me, as there is nothing on the market that feels so luxurious but yet so modern.
I love the feel of the device as the grip is great and also thanks to it’s silicon body it’s easy to keep germ free.
I paired and registered the device to the app and then went to the settings on the app. I love how customizable the settings are.
I set the device to the max microcurrent setting of 27 and turned the pulsations on.
If you are new to this start on a low setting and work your way up.
Then I clicked on treatment and followed the video tutorial.
I applied a generous amount of the Foreo SERUM SERUM SERUM.
Then I worked my way through the facial sections.
My muscles actually tensed up whilst using it, I’ve tested the Foreo Bear Mini and I was shocked with how much more powerful the Foreo Bear is.
The forehead area did tingle no matter how much conductive serum I put on and my eyebrows were raising too.
I believe that the forehead area should use less microcurrent intensity to avoid the tingle or use the Foreo Bear Mini for the forehead area instead.
The T-sonic pulsations were so relaxing and it’s one Foreo feature I absolutely adore.
I also love that this microcurrent device is waterproof and also has the Anti-shock technology.
My skin looked more plump, very radiant and lifted in some areas.

The devices are both aesthetically pleasing and hands down totally dependant on personal preference.
The NuFace Trinity is more of a classic design whereas the Foreo Bear is definitely modern.
If you prefer a lengthy treatment and have lots of spare time to do this microcurrent treatment, then the NuFace may be the device for you.
Whereas if like me you struggle to commit and have limited time, the Foreo Bear may be better suited to your needs.
Remember that in order to get real results, the microcurrent devices have to be used daily.
The Foreo Bear offers two treatments in one: the microcurrent therapy and the T-sonic pulsations, unlike the NuFace device.
The Bear is a bit more tech meets beauty whereas the NuFace is more of a plug and play.
But what matters the most in reality is the results and from the shots above you can make your mind up and decide where you see the best results.
For the more targeted areas Foreo recommend using the Foreo Bear Mini, whereas NuFace recommends using the ELE attachment.
Had I not taken before and after shots it would have been hard to notice the subtle improvements.
