The new Huda Beauty flawless complexion necessaties include:

The Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer
This is one product I didn’t expect on being released but let’s see how it performs.
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer packaging
The Water Jelly primer comes in a see-through simplistic case.
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer comes in a very minimilist see-through square bottle pump.
Exactly like the cult favourite Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation does.
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer formula
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer formula is a clear serum type primer which is fragrance free.
I was expecting it to be of a jelly consistency, this wasn’t the case. It had a serum consistency which once touched was readily absorbed by the skin.
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer formula is specifically designed to:
- provide your skin with hydration
- provide you with smoother skin
- increase your make-up durability.
The key first step for getting fake flawless skin is moisturising the skin, in order to start off with a smooth canvas for make-up application.
Is the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer a pore filling primer?
If you are looking for a pore filling effect this primer is not designed to fill pores.
You may want to use a pore filler for your problem areas together with this primer.
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer effects on skin types
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer will be the first step you take to fake flawless skin with make-up.
Water Jelly Hydrating Primer on Dry skin
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer is dry skin’s best friend.
Dry skin and this Huda Beauty primer go hand in hand to help the skin soak up moisture. By soaking up moisture, dryness will be eliminated and you can apply your foundation without having to worry about dry flacky cakey make-up.
Make-up looked smoother and lasted longer than when you don’t apply the primer.
Water Jelly Hydrating Primer on Oily skin
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer is surprisingly enough suited to oily skin. I was worried the hyper Hydrating components would make skin excessively oily but it is so well balanced that it actually works on Oily skin.
One piece of advice if you have oily skin is you may want to skip any other moisturisers if you use this primer.
Don’t forget to use only one pump of the primer.
Make-up looked smoother and lasted longer. However, with the oils coming through I do advise it will need some powder to refresh it.
Water Jelly Hydrating Primer on Combination skin
The Water Jelly Hydrating Primer is suited to combination skin, it is able to create a smooth canvas on the dry patches and not stimulate excessive oil production in the oily zones.
The make-up overall looked smoother and lasted longer.
Water Jelly Hydrating Primer on acne prone skin
It works well on acne prone skin by providing moisture and not irritating the skin further.
However it won’t fill the pores nor mask the scars.
How to use the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer
Get a boost of instant hydration and perfectly primed skin with this unique primer as easily as:
- Start off with clean skin.
- Apply ONE pump of the primer.
- Wait up to 60 seconds to allow the primer to be absorbed.
- Apply your foundation.
Which Huda Beauty foundations are compatible with the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer?
Both the Faux Filter foundation and the #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick are compatible with the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer.
How does the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer compare to the Huda Beauty Glow Coco Hydrating Mist?
It would be interesting to see what the difference was between the two Hydrating formulas.
The Glow Coco is a versatile Hydrating Mist, which is able to prime, set and refresh make-up. It gives an evident glow.
However, the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer does not give you a glow unlike the Glow Coco, making it better suited to the new Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation stick foundation.
How much is the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer?
The Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer retails at £29.00.
Water Jelly Hydrating Primer final verdict
If I have to be perfectly honest, when I heard it was a jelly I was worried it would not work for me.
After I tested it however, I can confirm that it’s really a great primer for all skin types.
In terms of a sensory experience I was really impressed by it as it was readily absorbed giving skin a silky base.
The second attribute of this primer is that it has a slight tackyness to make your make-up stay put and last longer.
The benefits of using the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer included:
- It being a unique lightweight formula
- Skin is Hydrated
- Skin is smoother
- Make-up finish was dewy
- Make-up lasted longer
- Make-up finish was flawless
You can also choose to use it as only a moisturiser for those days that you just don’t want to wear any foundation.
I was really impressed with the quality and effects of this primer.
Is the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer vegan?
This primer is a vegan formula and has not been tested on animals nor has any animal derived ingredients.

The Faux Filter foundation stick comes in a square stick container, by which you twist it to get the foundation to rotate out.
The classic Huda Beauty logo and colours are on the packaging.
The foundation contains 12.5g of product.
The #FauxFilter Foundation Stick formula
The Faux Filter foundation comes in a the form of a cream based stick.
This foundation stick is vegan and fragrance free.
Shades variety
It comes in 39 varied shades fit for all skin tones.
Huda Beauty has released some more varied shades which is exciting, if you are looking to match your shade check Huda Beauty’s comparison shade page.
I got mine in the shade Toasted Coconut and it’s a perfect colour match.
Coverage
In terms of coverage, the Huda Beauty foundation stick is a light/medium coverage but can be built up to full coverage without looking cakey.
This foundation formula is extremely versatile because it is suitable for people who look for light coverage and the ones who like to build it up.
Blending ability
This foundation stick blends effortlessly.
Make-up finish results
This foundation stick formula is lightweight. It is able to glide effortlessly on the skin and melt onto it to give a flawless natural make-up finish.
Bear in mind that the Faux Filter foundation stick will give you also a dewy make-up finish.
Layers of the make-up are not disrupted and products like blushes, bronzer (Tantour) sink in beautifully.
Waterproof foundation
This formula is waterproof and sweat proof, so under the rain, in humidity, at the gym, at the spa, crying or being splashed at the pool, you won’t have to worry about having streaks or dot from the make-up coming off.
I have tested it and you can see this on my YouTube review.
Lasting power
Like that’s all not enough the foundation is able to stay put for up to 10 hours so it’s definitely long lasting!
The #FauxFilter Foundation Stick Effects on skin types
The big question on everybody’s lips is can I fake flawless skin with this Huda Beauty foundation?
Let’s find out how different skin types react to it.
The Faux Filter foundation stick on dry skin
The effects of the Faux Filter foundation stick on dry skin are truly surprising.
The make-up finish is natural, dewy and the skin looks beautifully hydrated.
I really think it works wonderfully on dry skin, especially when you pair it with the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer.
The Faux Filter foundation stick on oily skin
The effects of the Faux Filter foundation stick on oily skin surprised me!
Given that it gives a dewy effect I was worried you can look excessively oily! This was NOT the case. Yay!!!
If oils start coming through during your day, just blot the make-up with some blotting paper, refresh with a setting spray or powder it down with some fine finishing powder.
The Faux Filter foundation stick on combination skin
The Faux Filter foundation stick works brilliant on combination skin tackling the dryness.
Skin looks beautiful with a natural glow.
I advise you apply the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer to the dry areas of your face.
When it comes down to your oily patches, a trick I recommend is applying a mattifying primer to your oil prone skin areas.
The Faux Filter foundation stick on acne prone skin
If with your acne you are looking to completely cover it, the Faux Filter foundation stick will provide enough coverage being built up.
However, your natural skin will come through and your natural features will be slightly evident.
It works great to camouflage the redness and it is a wonderful foundation if you are looking to wear something lightweight and natural.
Should I use a sponge or brush to apply the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation stick?
The tool you use to apply your foundation can help you fake flawless skin easily.
Beauty blender foundation application
If you apply the foundation stick with a beauty blender, you are able to easily press the product and blend it onto the skin.
The make-up sponge has a tendency to apply the product more thinly so you get less coverage and need to build it up more to get more coverage.
The beauty blender has a the ability to sink into fine lines, acne scars and give a more uniform flawless skin finish.
If you have dry skin the beauty blender will help avoid cakeyness and dry patches.
The overall make-up finish is more uniform and streak free!
Foundation brush application
If you use a make-up brush to apply the Huda Beauty foundation stick, you tend to get fuller coverage but can give some streak marks if not buffed in thoroughly.
The more dense the brush the better as it will give you more coverage and less streaks during application. It’s also much faster than using a make-up sponge.
Huda Beauty has designed the Build and Buff Foundation Brush for this.
Overall, the foundation application tool you use is down to your skin type and your personal preference.
Is the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation stick transfer proof?
The foundation stick is not fully transfer proof but it is definitely more transfer proof that the Faux Filter Liquid foundation, so it’s definitely an improved formula in terms of transfer.
When it came down to the Faux Filter Liquid Foundation, I was always worried about transfer as it doesn’t seem to fully set and with this foundation I am very confident that I won’t rub it off or hug someone and poof it’s gone.
It is one improvement I really was excited about.
It is transfer proof if you tap it or touch it but obviously not if you rub it.
When wearing a mask for long periods of time, it still does unfortunately come off via rubbing.
Does the Faux Filter foundation stick Crease?
A question that many might have is wether or not this Huda Beauty foundation stick settles into creases or glides beautifully for a flawless finish.
The Faux Filter skin finish foundation stick doesn’t settle into creases but after extended wear you may notice slight settling.
I do recommend setting the foundation with a fine setting powder.
The Faux Filter foundation stick suitable to ageing skin?
In my foundation experience, I find that light to medium coverage foundations are better suited to ageing skin that full coverage.
Light foundation formulas tend to have the ability of not eccentuating wrinkles and fine lines.
However, it all comes down to personal preference in my opinion.
Does the Faux Filter foundation stick break up after application?
The Huda Beauty stick foundation doesn’t break up which is brilliant as lighter formulas have a bad rep for this.
Does it cover scars, redness, pores and moles?
It does cover redness, moles when built up but if you have scars or pores you can see the outline of your scars.
However if you build it up they are hardly noticeable.
How to use the #FauxFilter Foundation Stick
Using this foundation is simple, depending on the amount of coverage you want to achieve here is how to apply it:
For Light-Medium Coverage
- Apply onto primed skin.
- Buff it out with either a sponge and brush.
- Repeat this process to build coverage.
- If you want a very light make-up finish I advise you to keep blending out.
For Full Coverage

Before and After the Faux Filter foundation stick foundation
If you are still in two minds, I wanted to show you a before and after using the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick with the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer.
As you can see from my before shot, my skin exhibits obvious redness, blemishes, moles and not a uniform complexion tone.
However, after using the Faux Filter foundation stick with the Water Jelly primer, my skin looks like I used an Instagram filter.
The redness has gone, the blemishes are camouflaged, my complexion looks uniform but you can still see my moles and it looks natural.
I also love the slight dewy, glow you get with this foundation stick.
How much is the #FauxFilter Foundation Stick?
The #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick retails at £32.00.
The Final Verdict
Not everyone loves a full COVARAGE boom in your face look, some people prefer a natural skin look.
The Faux Filter Skin finish foundation stick will help you fake flawless skin instantly!
For an everyday foundation routine which is lightweight and easily applied this makes a great addition to your complexion kit.
I was really surprised with the outcome, my skin looked naturally beautiful, I love how radiant I looked with it and most of all it’s natural finish.
There are days when I just want to look a bit more natural rather that extremely glammed up. This is the foundation which will help you achieve “naturally flawless skin”.
In terms of the Water Jelly Hydrating primer, I wasn’t sure what to expect but again I was pleasantly surprised.
I really loved how silky your skin feels after it sets which makes it a great canvas for the foundation application.
However, if you do have pores which show I recommend using on those areas a pore filler to minimise their appearance as pores unfortunately are not filled.
The best part of using this primer and foundation is how it makes your skin look like you have a beautiful natural glow.
