This is so you can achieve long lasting curls and wrap your short hair successfully around the barrel.

Separate the hair in multiple sections.

Step 2

Hold the Curler so that it is vertical to your head and away from your face.

Take the hair section and wrap your hair on the curler starting from the bottom working your hair round the barrel upward towards the base.

Hold the hair on the barrel for around 10 seconds if you need longer or less you will know as the curl won’t have set.

The perfect recipe on how to use a curling wand successfully

Perfect curls don’t happen by chance but by following a specific set of rules and avoiding bad habits.

The recipe to curling success is simple!

Barrel size choice

First of all, make sure you choose the right barrel size Curler. For soft and voluminous curls choose the 32mm but for Hollywood type curls a 25mm curling iron is more defined.

Dry your hair

One key point everyone forgets is that hair needs to be 100% dry before applying the curling iron.

Heat protection spray

Heat protection spray must be applied all over in order to retain natural moisture, protects the hairs keratin and allows for the hair to be more smooth.

Optimal temperature

Adjust the temperature on the curler to 185 °C (365 degrees Farenight) , this is the best temperature to get the best curls.

If the temperature was higher, the keratin on the hair melts and the structure of the hair is damaged and you end up with heat damage/brakeage.

If the temperature is too low on the other hand the curl won’t hold and b the hair will become frizzy too.

Hair partition direction

Depending on the look you want to create partition the hair:

1. Horizontally to create curls which have volume at the roots.
2. Vertically to create more waves.

If you want curls to flow together curl them all in the same direction for defined curls but if you want more of a Bohemian style look curl them in different directions.

Hair wrapping direction

Don’t forget to wrap your hair starting from the base of the barrel to the tip! Staying away from your face.

Cup your curl

Did you know that after you hold the curl for around 10 seconds, you should hold the curl by cupping it in your hand.

Don’t brush too soon

When you brush out the curls don’t brush them out too soon and don’t forget to use the hairspray.
