I have the most sparse eyebrows ever and I have embarked on a journey to see what works best on my brows, when I saw the Plouise Brow balm and eyebrow paint I knew I had to try it.
I’ve tried the low budget alternatives such as doing soap brows, wax brows or eyelash glue brows and these were a major flop for me as they’d either melt off, budge and I looked ridiculous.
Have you ever thought about undergoing microbladding? Well this method is a faux microbladding solution which offers the same finish with the benefit of not having to commit to one eyebrow look that might fade or that you can’t easily get rid of.
It seems to work wonders on natural untouched brows but how does it look on sparse brows like mine?
What are laminated brows?
Laminated eyebrows are an eyebrow trend which originated in Russia. It has the ability to give the illusion of having full brows.
You may have noticed this eyebrow trend all over Instagram and Tiktok. It is also a trend by which Plouise is well known by.
The eyebrows tend to appear fuller, slicked up and with a high shine finish.
Brow lamination is a semi permanent solution usually also known as fluffy brows, wax brows or soap brows.
The hairs will have a more vertical, smooth and straight appearance.
This is a great alternative to microbladding and a non permenant solution which is great for people like me who like to change their style often.
The Plouise eyebrow collection
Plouise has expanded her eyebrow range, which now includes:
- The Plouise Oh so Browtiful Pencil
- The Plouise Oh so Browtiful eyebrow gel
- The Plouise Brow balm
- The Plouise Eyebrow paint
I have previously reviewed and tested the Plouise Oh so Browtiful eyebrow duo which included the Oh so Browtiful Pencil and gel.
However, this time round I will be testing their Brow balm and eyebrow paint.
The Plouise fluffy brows trio
The Plouise base, Brow balm and eyebrow paint are the perfect trio to create fluffy brows at home.
Plouise was so lovely to include a Plouise mini base to outline the brows in the package.
This is what the mini Plouise base looks like swatched.
The Plouise Brow Balm
Plouise has developed this eyebrow balm to give you the chance to easily get the iconic Plouise laminated eyebrows at the comfort of your home.
She talks about transforming your brows from weak to fleek.
The packaging
When it comes down to packing Plouise is always really killing it. In the style of the Oh so Browtiful products, the pink and gold packaging really shines luxury.
Even the delivery box comes in the same high end pink packaging with a holographic finish.
I love that on the packaging there are affirmations for the law of attraction.
What’s included in the Plouise Brow balm box?
Within the Plouise Brow balm box is included:
- The Brow balm container
- A Plouise Eyebrow spoolie
The Plouise Brow balm design
The Plouise Brow balm comes in a pretty pink and gold container cup with a golden lid.
The Plouise eyebrow spoolie comes with a pink handle and Plouise embroided on it. It also has a gold finish.
The spoolie is firm perfect for creating laminated effect eyebrows.
The formula and texture
The formula of the Brow balm is a see-through clear eyebrow balm.
Let me tell you it smells also absolutely gorgeous too, like a floral scent.
The Plouise Brow balm texture is like that of a hair wax probably as it is glycerin based.
This eyebrow formula was made to provide your eyebrows the perfect base for fluffy brows which should not react to whichever product you put after it.
The Plouise Brow balm has been designed to hold your brows as if you’ve had them laminated for that viral fluffy brow effect.
The formula is ready to use instantly and doesn’t require activation.
The texture surprisingly enough isn’t an annoying tackiness but feels more like a smooth film on top of your brows.
These below are the textures of the Brow balm, eyebrow paint and base.
How much Brow balm is included?
The Plouise Brow balm contains 25g of eyebrow product.
How to use the Plouise Brow balm
Using the Brow balm is simple, just:
- Ensure you start off with clean and make-up free eyebrows.
- Place the eyebrow balm on the spoolie.
- Run the spoolie in upward strokes starting from the inner corner of the eyebrows, working your way to the outter eyebrow section.
- The eyebrows will be left with a laminated eyebrow effect/fluffy brows.
- If you have sparse brows like mine, use the Plouise Eyebrow paint or Oh so Browtiful Pencil to fill them out.
- Then use the Plouise base to define your eyebrows to perfection
This method will give you instant Instagram worthy laminated brows.
My experience with Plouise Brow balm
I was so excited about trying the Plouise Brow balm particularly because I generally go for a very basic brow look.
I was worried about experimenting with a fluffy brow, but I totally had jump on the trend especially because the Plouise Oh so Browtiful range was a total hit for me.
The Plouise Brow balm applies beautifully and the Plouise spoolie is the perfect brush for it making the application even easier.
My eyebrows were left looking straight, in place and most importantly not tacky. The brow balm is so lightweight so much so that it doesn’t feel something is stuck on my eyebrows.
Before and After using the Plouise Brow balm, eyebrow paint and base
The difference is outstanding in my before and after shot.
I am so tired of seeing products used on girls with perfect brows, because that doesn’t give me any indication of how the brow product actually works on my bad brows.
This instead gives me an opportunity to share real results on bad eyebrows which are not photoshop edited, unlike make-up brand campaigns.
Is the Brow balm long lasting?
The Brow balm didn’t hold my brows up unfortunately for the whole day.
The eyebrows look perfect for the first hour but with time. The straightening effect deflates to almost your natural brow.
I also tried applying more Brow balm, just in case I hadn’t applied enough but it didn’t make a difference.
Is the Plouise Brow balm vegan?
This Brow balm is vegan.
Is the Plouise Brow balm cruelty free?

The Plouise Eyebrow paint
The Plouise eyebrow paint was created initially to bring together the eyebrow with the eyebrow balm but at the same time it’s so versatile that it can be used to create different eyebrow styles.
The packaging
The Plouise eyebrow paint comes in a typical plouise base packaging.
The eyebrow paint comes in a squeeze tube with a large opening and is very easy to dispense.
The outer casing design is the typical pink, white and gold Plouise paint branding design.
The formula and texture
The formula is exactly like Plouise’s paint range.
Paints tend to be very pigmented, they form precise lines and have great staying power.
Exactly what you would need on brows, long lasting eyebrow pigment that doesn’t budge.
The texture of the eyebrow paint is thick yet creamy.
Generally as a rule of thumb Plouise paints have the innate ability to dry matte without having to be set unlike the Plouise bases.
This type of formula is quick and easy to apply.
The eyebrow paint allows you to create either fluffy brows or structured brows.
How much of the Plouise eyebrow paint is included?
The Plouise eyebrow paint includes 15g of eyebrow product.
How many shades are there of the eyebrow paint?
The Plouise eyebrow paint comes in 5 different versatile shades:
- Blonde blend
- Gingerbread latte
- Hazelnut latte
- Mochaccino
- Espresso
My experience using the Plouise eyebrow paint
I’ve used Plouise paints before so I knew what to expect.
The eyebrow paint is very pigmented and with the right brush creates the most precise lines.
This makes it versatile for creating different eyebrow styles but this time I definitely wasn’t opting for structured brows but fluffy brows instead.
Unfortunately I ended up getting a shade that was too light but somehow ended up looking great anyways. I got the eyebrow paint in the shade Hazelnut latte.
I really loved the look I was able to create with the Brow balm and eyebrow paint.
This is a close up of the eyebrow after using the Brow balm, the eyebrow paint and the Plouise base.
Is the Plouise eyebrow paint smudge proof and transfer proof?
The Plouise eyebrow paint is definitely smudge proof, if I even dab on it doesn’t not budge nor transfer.

The eyebrow paint by Plouise is cruelty free.
Is the Plouise eyebrow paint waterproof?

Is the Plouise eyebrow paint long lasting?
The eyebrow paint by Plouise is long lasting for sure and it lasts the whole day easily. However, I feel the Brow strokes I created with the heat didn’t look like precise strokes anymore.
How much is the Plouise eyebrow paint?
The eyebrow paint by Plouise retails at £14.50.
How to remove the Plouise Brow balm and eyebrow paint
Both the Brow balm and eyebrow paint by Plouise are very easy to remove with:
- Soap and water
- Micellar water
- Make-up remover
- Cleansing gel
- Cleansing balm
The final verdict
If you are looking for a non permanent at home eyebrow microbladding experience this may be one you may want to try.
The Plouise Brow balm and eyebrow paint give the prettiest fluffy brows.
The only criticism I have is that they unfortunately don’t stay fluffy all day and you loose that straight eyebrow shape.
